Andrés Gómez is a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Biodiversity and Conservation (CBC), at the American Museum of Natural History. Andrés received a Ph.D. in ecology from Columbia University and a D.V.M. at the Universidad de La Salle in Bogotá, Colombia. His research has been mainly focused on understanding health in an ecological context, and on the applications of disease ecology in conservation biology. He has also worked on several large-scale spatial analyses for conservation and on indicators of environmental performance. Before coming to New York he worked for the Smithsonian’s National Zoological Park’s Conservation and Research Center. He has conducted field work in the U.S., Mexico, China, and Colombia. Andrés is the content coordinator for the Center for Biodiversity and Conservation Milstein Science Symposium, Exploring the Dynamic Relationship Between Health and the Environment (along with Dr. Nora Bynum).
