About the Survey

Louis Harris and Associates conducted the survey "Biodiversity in the Next Millennium" in January and February of 1998 for the American Museum of Natural History.

The survey included phone interviews from a representative sample of approximately 1,000 members of the public, 400 biologists drawn from the American Institute of Biological Sciences (AIBS), and 100 science teachers drawn from the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA).

This report focuses on opinions of biologists and the public, while a future report will compare the attitudes of the science teachers and the biologists.
